Minimum Score: 575 (Paper) or 88 (Internet-Based). NOTE: Some departments require a higher score. Scores must be less than 2 years old at the time of application.International Graduate Employees (GEs) in teaching positions are required to prove their spoken English proficiency by way of the SPEAK Test or the speaking component of the internet-based TOEFL or IELTS.Students for whom the TOEFL/IELTS is waived for admission to their graduate program are still subject to these requirements if they are placed in teaching-related GE assignments.A photocopy of either score report may be sent to the department, but are not required. Any International student granted GE teaching funding, but lacking a TOEFL ibt speaking score of at least 26, will be required to take the SPEAK test during fall term orientatio. (Note that TOEFL/IELTS demonstrate proficiency in speaking English; any person holding a degree from an English-speaking institution does not need to take these tests.) TOEFL scores from ETS generally reach the UO in an electronic format.

Suggested minimum GRE scores on the general test:Verbal - 153/170;Quantitative - 151/170;Analytical - 4.5/6.0. Have your Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores sent to the Department of Computer and Information Science. . For submission of the GRE scores, note that the institutional code is 4846, and the major code is 0402. Photocopies may be sent to the department, but are not required.Paper GRE reports come directly to our department. You may send TOEFL and GRE scores to the Graduate Program Coordinator as PDFs and self report them in the online application.
